Celebrations at Sessay Swift race...

16th August, 2025.

The evening of 6th August saw over 90 Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers compete in or support the club’s Sessay Swift 6km race - a one loop, fast and flat road race finishing at Sessay Village Hall.

This was the 13th Sessay Swift, organized by Race Director Duncan Fothergill, and originally set up by Marian Codling.

It was a lovely clear evening with great views of the Kilburn White Horse for anyone marshalling or not with their head down running!

In total, 370 runners took part with the overall male winner, Daniel Cheeseman from Richmond and Zetland Harriers in 18:16 and the overall female winner was Davina Ellis from Harrogate Harriers in 21:33.

61 Harriers completed the run with Tom Levi first back for the club in a time of 19:24, finishing fourth overall.

Luke McNiff was second Harrier in 20:34 and Paul Peacock third in 21:51.

Charlotte Sanderson was second overall and first female Harrier in 22:55, with Esther Harrison second female Harrier back in in 23:16 and Olivia Mulligan third Harrier in 23:46, also winning her age category.

Across the board, there were a lot of personal bests from Harriers and some excellent times.

The trophy for the fastest ten male and female club runners once again went to Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers with total position points of 1244. The second and third club places went to Easingwold and Nidd Valley respectively.
